Maine Soil Health Network

The Maine Soil Health Network is a peer-to-peer network of Maine farmers that supports your farm in building soil health through on-farm research, education and technical expertise, and financial support. We focus on empowering you with data and information, and providing investments needed to increase your farm’s resilience for the years to come.

Farmer digging up soil

By improving soil health, Maine farmers can see an increase in yields and profits per acre, as well as enhanced resilience to the impacts of climate change, such as erosion or drought. The Soil Health Network supports you in learning about the impacts of climate change on soil health and farm resilience, so you can make  decisions to adapt to changing weather patterns and to mitigate the effects of climate change.

Farms participating in the Maine Soil Health Network:

  • Learn about the impacts farm management practices have on soil health through the Soil Health Benchmark Study
  • Attend summer field days and winter workshops with the other farms in the network
  • Attend conferences, workshops or work with a consultant to learn more about ways to increase your farm’s resilience to climate change
  • Create a climate adaptation plan and apply for a mini-grant to implement the plan
