When considering a farm purchase, we evaluate the quality of the soils for agriculture, the amount of land available to farm, the condition of any existing infrastructure, and the likelihood that we will be able to identify farmers to purchase the property. In general, we prioritize Buy Protect Sell projects that help farmers access land more affordably and that protect farmland vulnerable to being developed.

It takes capital to make Buy Protect Sell projects possible, which MFT covers through a combination of our own funds, financing from banks, and financing from private investors. Private investors support the BPS program with loans of $50,000 (or more) for a period of 2 years (or more) paying a modest interest rate.
